THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO HELP STOP THE NEXT HUMANITARIAN DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN IN TIBET
After desecrating Mt. Chomolongma (Everest) with an Olympic torch summit symbolizing only China's attempt to legitimize their occupation of Tibet, and stained with the blood and misery of over 200 Tibetan deaths and thousands more injured and imprisoned in the last month -- China and the International Olympic Committee seem determined to carry on their plan to run the torch through Tibetan lands beginning June 19.

Tibetans and Chinese Meet for Spirited Dialogue in Millbrae
About 15 members of our community met on Sunday, May 3, with a group of Chinese and Taiwanese, to discuss issues relating to China and Tibet. Excerpt of the story: “After the forum ended, all around the room, clusters of people exchanged views and follow up questions, some in Chinese, some in English. While the panel discussions had run quite heated at times, with some people shouting or jabbing the air vehemently to make points, the “show” aspect settled into more intense listening and exchanging of ideas in the post-forum conversations. From a Tibetan perspective, it was gratifying to see a Tibetan man speaking to ex-Regent Lee, telling him that he grew up in Tibet and never once considered himself to be Chinese – and that he himself would not protest Chinese actions if the Chinese government treated Tibetans the same way that they treat Chinese people. And to ask Mr. Lee what he meant when he said he thought China did not invade Tibet in the 1950’s, and that Tiannanmen Square was more complicated than it appeared.” Read the full story of the Tibetan-Chinese Dialogue
On Friday, April 25, Gendhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama and Tibet's second most important religious leader turned 19 years old. He has not been seen or heard from since he was abducted by Chinese authorities in 1995 when he was only six years old.

UPDATE ON THE CONTINUING HUMANITARIAN CRISIS INSIDE TIBET:
From SFT: Inside Tibet the situation remains critical as Chinese forces continue to seal off all Tibetan areas from the outside world. With foreign journalists barred from the region, the full extent of China's brutal crackdown has been difficult to ascertain, however, across Tibet eyewitness reports describe a situation that recalls the darkest days of the Cultural Revolution.
Reports of house-to-house searches, late-night raids on monasteries and nunneries, mass imprisonments, and torture are widespread. People everywhere are afraid to leave their homes for fear of being arbitrarily beaten or detained. Food and supplies to the monasteries in and around Lhasa have been cut off and many people fear starvation. Click here to read more.
Fresh protests broke out in Rebkong last week, just an hour drive from Xining where the International Olympic Committee is allowing the Chinese government to take the torch. Read SFT's press release on the incident.
